Originally released on 19th  April 1973 Aladdin Sane will mark its 50th anniversary this year and to celebrate we will be releasing a Picture Disc of this iconic album. The cover artwork has become one of the most famous sleeves of all time and was rumoured to be the most expensive produced up to that point. The cover photograph was taken by Brian Duffy, who would also shoot the sleeves for 1979s LODGER and 1980s SCARY MONSTERS (AND SUPER CREEPS) and features Bowie with the iconic red and blue lightning bolt make-up, an image which has now entered the planets cultural lexicon.

    The images on both sides of the disc are absolutely stunning, the colours are so vibrant! This album is one of my favourites, both for the songs and it's album artwork, and this picture disc commemorates it beautifully.

    I was 9 when this was released! My brother had a portable record player and he would let me borrow it and play his albums. This is one I listened to all the time, still do. My favourite Bowie album. No skipping songs on this album, I had to listen to it all. I can't sing in tune, never could, but that has never stopped me singing along to this album. Even at 9 when perhaps I shouldn't have been so loud on some tracks, ‘Time' comes to mind instantly. In my defence, at 9, I didn't know the meaning of some words; I just knew I loved it from first play. If I was forced to pick a favourite track it would be the title one. ‘Aladdin Sane', the title track, and the whole album, had me as its ‘Queen Bitch' from day one. Happy days. Thanks for the memories Mr Bowie.
